Producer Henry Wilson Savage was born in New Durham, New Hampshire. He moved from real estate into theatre and maintained offices in Boston and New York. As manager of Boston's Castle Square Opera House, he ran a successful stock company. His Broadway productions included The College Widow (1904), The Girl of the Golden West (1905), Madame X (1909), and many others. He was also distinguished as the first to present grand opera in English.
