Minick
George S. Kaufman and Edna Ferber collaborated for the first time on this three-act comedy based on Ferber's short story, "Old Man Minick," produced by Antoinette Perry at Booth's Theatre on 24 September 1924 for 141 performances, with Perry and Phyllis Povah in leading roles. The story dealt with an elderly man struggling with the dilemma of living with his son and daughter-in-law or choosing a lonely life in a retirement home. Under the title Old Man Minick, it was made into a motion picture in 1932. A superior screen version starring Fred Stone was released in 1939 under the title No Place to Go.
