Morris, Mary
(1895-1970)
   Born in Swampscott, Massachusetts, she attended Radcliffe College and participated in George Pierce Baker's 47 Workshop. The actress made her debut with the Washington Square Players in 1916. Her outstanding role was that of Abbie Putnam in Eugene O'Neill's Desire Under the Elms (1924). She performed less frequently after 1932, when she joined the drama faculty at Carnegie Tech. She also served on the boards of the American National Theatre and Academy,* National Theatre Conference, and Actors' Equity.
