Opening 27 January 1926 at the 48th Street Theatre, the farcical comedy in three acts by Adelaide Matthews and Martha Stanley ran for 112 performances. Matthews and Stanley were a prolific playwriting team whose work included comedies of innuendo like Nightie Night (1919) and mystery comedies like The Wasp's Nest (1927). Puppy Love incorporates topical references to bootlegging, women's clubs, motorcars, and flappers.
