Porter Emerson Brownes comedy set on a ranch near the Mexican border opened on 30 August 1920, ran for 320 performances at the Comedy Theatre, and earned a Pulitzer Prize nomination. The title character, Pancho Lopez, is a bandit who robs a bank to save the ranch and protect a good woman from a truly bad guy. Then he heads back to Mexico, asking only that the future baby be named Pancho.
