Modern name for a site in Upper Nubia where a major Ramesside settlement and temple have been discovered. The town appears to have been founded by Sety I, with further construction by his son, Ramesses II. It was probably the major administrative center for Upper Nubia. It was excavated by the Egypt Exploration Society in 1938–1939 and 1947–1950.
