Egyptian goddess of Buto, usually represented as a cobra. She was the tutelary goddess of Lower Egypt and as such appears as part of the nebty, or “two ladies,” name in the royal titulary and as the uraeus on the royal crown. During the Late Period, she is often represented as a lioness-headed goddess.
