Ashayet
(fl. 2020 BC)
Aminor wife of Mentuhotep II of Dynasty 11. She was commemorated in a chapel and buried in a pit tomb at his funerary complex at Deir el-Bahri. The chapel was discovered during Henri Edouard Naville’s excavations at the site, but Ashayet’s tomb was found largely intact by an American expedition from the Metropolitan Museum of Art in excavations from 1920–1921. Her sarcophagus and mummy are now in the Cairo Egyptian Museum.
