(c. 1310–1272 BC)
King of the Hittites. Son of Mursili II and Gassuliyawiya. He faced a renewed attempt by Egypt to regain its lost territories in Syria resulting in the battle of Kadesh with Ramesses II. The Hittite victory there assured that these areas remained in Hittite possession. He also led campaigns against his northern and western neighbors.
