(1857-1957)
The artist Alice Ronner was born in Brussels on 9 September 1857. The daughter of Henriette Knip, who was well known for her scenes featuring dogs and cats, Ronner chose, in contrast, to concentrate on flowers and still life in her paintings. Her works were characterized by a decorative, realistic style with a slight impressionistic influence.
Ronner belonged to the Cercle des Femmes Peintres together with most other contemporary female painters in Brussels, and she exhibited regularly at salons held by the group and at other exhibitions in Brussels as well as in Ghent, Antwerp, and abroad. She died in Ix-elles on 4 July 1957.
