This suite of techniques (magnetometer, resistivity, and ground penetrating radar) permits the analysis of settlement areas and cemeteries prior to more detailed investigation by excavation. Early work was implemented by the Lerici Foundation on sites such as Tarquinia. Other significant work has been carried out at Musarna by French teams to show the regular grid of the site and by British teams at Falerii Veteres to show the ritual structure of the city.
