Hartnell, Norman
(1901-1979)
   Born in England, he opened his business in 1930. Known as the couturier of royalty, he designed the wedding gown of Queen Elizabeth II and received worldwide recognition for the design due to the televised broadcast of the ceremony. Hartnell was the first British couturier to be knighted.
