Founded in 1992 by a group of individuals committed to offering consumers a retail "destination" focused on simple objects, one-of-a-kind designs, and merchandise that is fluid in both presentation and availability. With stores throughout the United States and a thriving catalog business, Anthropologie addresses the need for merchandise that is not built around an identifiable image; rather, it has created a following of consumers expecting nothing more than the unexpected. In 2006, Anthropologie opened a 22,000-square-foot store in New York City's Rockefeller Center and it continues to comb the world for apparel, accessories, and home furnishings that speak to its eclectic and individual style. Collaborations in fashion include Anna Sui, Tracy Feith, and Odessa Whitmire among those who have teamed up with the company.
