Born in Ireland, Treacy opened his own hat shop in London in 1994. His hat designs have graced the runways of some of the most important designers of the time, such as Gianni Versace, Valentino, Alexander McQueen, and Karl Lagerfeld. Best known for his surrealist, whimsical hats such as the "birdcage," Treacy was honored by the Chambre Syndicale de la haute couture parisienne in 2000, to show his collection during the haute couture shows in Paris.
