Outerwear
The outerwear category of clothing includes jackets, coats, wraps, capes, rainwear, and furs for men, women, and children. Although fur and leather is included in this category, they are each their own industries. Outerwear consists of jackets and coats made of wool, wool blends, synthetics, and leather; they can be knitted, fur-trimmed, microfiber, down-filled, and quilted garments. Throughout history, many types of jackets and coats have been popularized and, as is the case with most trends, certain styles go in and out of fashion while others remain constant. Some of the most popular types of outerwear include the anorak, balmacaan, baseball jacket, bomber jacket, car coat, cape, chesterfield coat, chubby, clutch coat, barn or field coat, coachman's coat, denim jacket, down jacket, duffle coat, duster coat, Eisenhower or battle jacket, flight jacket, frock coat, golf jacket, mackinaw jacket and coat, Macintosh, maxi-coat, military coat, motorcycle jacket, raincoat, riding coat, Nehru coat, officer's coat, parka, pea jacket, polo coat, reefer, safari coat/bush jacket, shearling jacket and coat, ski jacket, stadium coat, topcoat, topper coat, trenchcoat, walking coat, windbreaker, and Soave or wrapper coat.
