Godelieve
Godelieve f
French (Walloon): from a Germanic personal name composed of the elements god god or gōd good + liob dear. It is thus a feminine equivalent of German GOTTLIEB (SEE Gottlieb). St Godleva or Godliva (Latinized forms of the name) was murdered in the 11th century by her husband, Bertulf of Ghistelles; she has a cult in Flanders as a suffering innocent, and the name is still in use there.
