Angharad f
Welsh: composed of the Old Celtic intensive prefix an- + the root cār love + the noun suffix -ad. This was the name of the mother of the 12th-century chronicler Giraldus Cambrensis (‘Gerald the Welshman’). In the Mabinogi, Angharad Golden Hand at first rejects Peredur's suit, but later falls in love with him when he comes back as the unknown Mute Knight. The name has been strongly revived in Wales since the 1940s.
