Pimen
Pimen m
Russian: from the Greek name Poimēn ‘shepherd’. The name was a popular one among early Christians because of the New Testament parable of the Good Shepherd and his flock (cf. PASTOR (SEE Pastor)). It was borne in the 5th century by a hermit who lived in the Egyptian desert; he is a saint still greatly venerated in the Eastern Church.
Pet form: Pima.
