Candace f
English: from the hereditary name of a long line of queens of Ethiopia. One of them is mentioned in the Bible, when the apostle Philip baptizes ‘a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure’ (Acts 8: 27). This name is now much less common than its presumed derivative CANDICE (SEE Candice).
