Lara f
Russian: short form of LARISSA (SEE Larissa), introduced in the early 20th century to the English-speaking world. Here it became popular in particular as the name of one of the principal characters in Boris Pasternak's novel Dr Zhivago (1957), which was made into a popular Hollywood film in 1965. The name is associated with ‘Lara's theme’, from the film score by Maurice Jarre. Occasionally the name also represents a short form of KLARA (SEE Klara).
