Welsh: traditional name, meaning ‘bright, shining’, cognate with the name of the Celtic god known in Old Irish as Lugh, in Gaulish: as Lugus. This name was borne in the Mabinogi by Lleu Llaw Gyffes ‘Lleu Skilful Hand’, the son of Aranrhod. It has been revived in modern times.
