Presentación f
Spanish: religious name referring to the feast of the Presentation (Spanish presentación, from Late Latin praesentātio, a derivative of praesens present), commemorating the presentation of the Virgin Mary in the temple at Jerusalem after the birth of Christ. This has been celebrated (on 21 November) since the 5th century in the Eastern Church and since the 7th century in the Western. However, since it is largely based on incidents in the apocryphal ‘Book of James’, its significance has been played down in modern times.
Short form: Presen.
