Rhydderch m
Welsh: traditional name, originally a byname meaning ‘reddishbrown’. This was a relatively common name in the Middle Ages and in Tudor times, when it gave rise to the surname Prothero(e) (Welsh ap Rhydderch ‘son of Rhydderch’). It has recently been revived by parents proudly conscious of their Welsh roots and culture.
