Siegbert
Siegbert m
German (esp. Jewish): from an old Germanic personal name composed of the elements sige victory + berht bright, famous. The name was borne by a 7th-century French king, regarded as a saint because of his foundation of numerous hospitals, churches, and monasteries. An Old English cognate was borne by a contemporary who was the first Christian king of East Anglia. The reason why the name should have become particularly popular among Jews is not clear.
