Celia f
English and Italian: from Latin Caelia, feminine of the old Roman family name Caelius (of uncertain origin, probably a derivative of caelum heaven). The name was not used in the Middle Ages, but was introduced to the English-speaking world as the name of a character in Shakespeare's As You Like It. It is now often regarded as a short form of Cecilia.
Cognate: French: CĂ©lie (not now a common given name).
Pet form: Low German, Frisian: Silke.
