(IDHEC)
IDHEC was a Parisian film school founded in 1942 by film director Marcel L'Herbier, under the direction of the Occupation government. L'Herbier served as the school's first director. The publicly funded institute taught all aspects of film, from criticism, history, and theory to directing, editing, and production. It was open until 1985, when it was replaced by the Fondation Européenne des Métiers de l'Image et du Son (FEMIS). Former students include Costa-Gavras, Claire Denis, Patrice Leconte, Louis Malle, Alain Resnais, and Claude Sautet.
