A city on the outskirts of Tel Aviv founded in 1914 and into which the first settlers moved in 1922. Since Israel's independence, it has become one of the most important industrial centers of the country. Among its important activities is the Diamond Center— the focal point of Israel's diamond industry. Bar Ilan University is located there. Ramat Gan had a population of 127,400 in 2005.
