(WIZO)
WIZO was founded in July 1920 in London; in 1949, the seat of its executive moved to Israel. The organization seeks to unite Jewish women to participate actively in the up-building and consolidation of Israel through various activities, including education and training of youth and women in agriculture, home economics, and more generally in other areas relating to social welfare. It also seeks to strengthen the cultural and spiritual links between the Diaspora and Israel. The organization claims a current membership of more than 300,000 in the United States alone.
