At the Khartoum Summit in early September 1967, the members of the Arab League of States agreed to unite their efforts "to eliminate the effects of the [Israeli] aggression" in the Six-Day War (1967) and to secure Israeli withdrawal from the Occupied Territories within the framework of the "main principles" to which they adhere: "no peace with Israel, no recognition of Israel, no negotiation with it, and adherence to the rights of the Palestinian people in their country." This statement became known as the "Three Nos."
