Levy, Moshe
(1936-2008)
   Born in Tel Aviv, he studied economics and the history of Islamic countries at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He joined the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) in 1954 and served in the Golani Brigade and the paratroopers and held a series of commands. He was in command of the Central Command from 1977 to 1982 and from 1982 to 1983 served as deputy chief of staff of the IDF. He served as chief of staff of the IDF from 1983 to 1987.
