TOMIOKA TAEKO
(1935–)
   Tomioka Taeko is a poet and novelist from Osaka Prefecture. She graduated from Osaka Women’s University and began writing poetry, but subsequently has written novels as well as criticism, essays, and screenplays. Tomioka has received many literary prizes, including the Women’s Literature Prize (1973), the Kawabata Yasunari Prize (1977), the Yomiuri Prize (1993), the Noma Prize (1997), and the Japan Art Academy Prize (2004).
