YOKOMITSU RIICHI
(1898–1947)
Yokomitsu Riichi was an author and a member of the neoperceptionist school. In 1923, he published “Nichirin” (The Sun), “Hae” (1923; tr. The Fly, 1965), and other short pieces of fiction in Bungei shunju (Literary Chronicle). He also founded the magazine Bungei jidai (Literary Times) with Kawabata Yasunari. Yokomitsu, along with his peers, emphasized the multiple senses and imbued his writing with novel and often startlingly fresh images.
