Polish rabbinic scholar. He was born in Tarnogrod, and was appointed rabbi of Nowy Sadz in Galicia in 1830. He became drawn to Hasidism and founded the Sanzer dynasty of Hasidic rabbis. He was the head of a yeshivah in Zanz which attracted both Hasidim and mitnaggedim. In 1869 he was involved in a dispute with the Sadagora Hasidim. He published works on talmudic subjects as well as responsa.
