Spanish poet and philosopher. He was born in Zaragoza. He wrote secular and religious poetry and philosophical studies. His poem Keter Malkhut (Crown of Divine Kingship) has been incorporated into the liturgy. Two of his philosophical works have survived: Mekor Hayyim (Source of Life) and Tikkun Middot ha-Nephesh (Improvement of the Moral Qualities). His philosophical investigations are based on Neoplatonic principles.
