(1885-1945)
American composer. Born in New York, he published his first song in 1902. Later he wrote his first hit song: How'd You Like to Spoon with Me? Until the outbreak of World War I, many of his songs were written for New York productions of London shows. During the 1920s he collaborated with Oscar Hammerstein II and Otto Harbach. Later he and Hammerstein won an Oscar for The Last Time I Saw Paris.
