(1876-1943)
American rabbi and diplomat, of Austro-Hungarian origin. He went to the US as a child. He served congregations in Pine Bluff, Arkansas; Montreal; and Columbus, Ohio, where he became active in civic affairs. He was appointed American ambassador to Persia in 1921. In 1925 he became rabbi of the Collingwood Avenue Temple in Toledo, Ohio.
