Russian author. He was born in the Ukraine. His novel The Fall of the Empire deals with the last years of imperial Russia and the revolution. Some of his early stories describe life in a Jewish shtetl in the Pale of Settlement. His novella The Person Kissing the Ground deals with Russian anti-Semitism.
