Italian crimi-nologist. Born in Verona to a distinguished Jewish family, he studied at the Universty of Turin as well as in Padua, Paris and Vienna. During the 1859 war he was a physician in the army. He became professor of psychiatry and medical jurisprudence at Turin. His works include The Criminal Man and The Man of Genius.
