French bacteriologist and Zionist leader. He was born in Mielnice, Galicia. He became assistant and later senior researcher at the Pasteur Institute in Paris. He was an associate of Theodor Herzl and served as a member of the Zionist General Council at the first 11 Zionist Congresses. He was a co-founder of the Paris Zionist monthly L'echo Sioniste.
