Mohilever, Samuel
(1824-98)
   Polish rabbi and religious Zionist. He was born in Glebokie, in the district of Vilna, and became a rabbi there in 1848. Later he served in Szaki, Suwalki and Radom. From 1874 he actively supported Jewish settlement in Palestine, and his views on this influenced Baron de Hirsch. He formed the first society of Hovevei Zion in Warsaw, and later supported Theodor Herzl. In 1884 he was the honorary president of the Kattowitz Conference.
