Italian scholar and mathematician. He was born in Gorizia. His inspiration led to the founding of the Collegio Rabbinico Italiano in Padua in 1829. He published an Italian translation of the Pentateuch with a commentary in Hebrew. In 1846 he became the rabbi of Gorizia. His writings include Torah and Philosophy.
