Shimoni (Shimonovitz), David
(1886-1956)
   Israeli poet, of Russian origin. He was born in Bobruisk, in the district of Minsk. He settled in Palestine in 1909, but later went to Germany to study, and returned to Russia at the outbreak of World War I. In 1921 he moved permanently to Palestine and taught at the Herzliyyah secondary school. He wrote poetry, parables, satires, meditations and memoirs.
