American playwright. Born in New York, he studied at New York University. He initially wrote for a number of television shows. Subsequently he wrote shows for the theatre including Come Blow Your Horn, Plaza Suite, The Sunshine Boys, California Suite, The Odd Couple, Last of the Red Hot Lovers, The Prisoner of Second Avenue and J Ought to Be in Pictures.
