German philosopher. She was born in Breslau. She converted to Catholicism in 1922; she was appointed lecturer at the Institute for Pedagogy at Munster in 1932, but in 1933 abandoned her post and entered the Carmelite convent in Cologne as Sister Theresa Benedicta of the Cross. In 1938 she moved to the Netherlands. Under the Nazis she was deported to Auschwitz where she died. Her collected works were published in five volumes.
