Israeli scholar. He was born in Rypin Poland. In 1934 he went to Palestine, where he became professor of modern history at the Hebrew University. His writings include The Origins of Totalitarian Democracy, The Nature of Jewish History: its Universal Significance, The Unique and the Universal, Romanticism and Revolt and Political Messianism: The Romantic Phase.
