Theudas
(fl. 1st cent.)
   Palestianian religious leader and pseudo-messiah. He persuaded the people to gather up their possessions and follow him to the Jordan, where at his comand he claimed the river would part. The Roman procurator Cuspius Fadus sent cavalary after them. Theudas was caught and decapitated, and his head was taken to Jerusalem.
