German founder of Gestalt psychology. Born in Prague, he studied in Prague, Berlin and Würzburg. He founded and edited Psychologische Forschung and became professor at the University of Frankfurt. With the rise of the Nazis, he went to the US and taught at the New School for Social Research in New York.
