Israeli composer. Born in Munich, he settled in Tel Aviv in 1933. He helped create the eastern Mediterranean school of compo-sition. His compositions evoke the pastoral atmosphere of the Israeli countryside and the youthful spirit of the people. They include Hymn from the Desert, Sweet Psalmist of Israel, Liturgical Cantata, Vision of the Prophet, Three Psalms and Kabhalat Shabbat.
