Bomberg, David
(1890-1957)
   English painter. He was born in Birmingham and lived in the East End of London. A number of his paintings were influenced by scenes in the Whitechapel area. From 1923 to 1927 he lived in Palestine and later travelled widely. He returned to England and taught at the Borough Polytechnic in London from 1945 to 1953. His paintings include 'Ghetto Theatre', 'The Talmudist' and 'Hear, O Israel'.
