Hungarian novelist and playwright. He prepared the ground for the development of Hungarian prose in the 20th century. A number of his stories and plays introduce Jewish characters. His collection of short stories Misery was the first work of Hungarian literature to describe the Jewish worker, and his play Timdr Liza depicts the decadence of assimilated Jews in Hungary.
